Welcome to the CTRL Z Newsletter. This week I Love Acid celebrate their 18th Birthday at Corsica Studios, so in the Newsletter I’ll be sharing some of my favourite tunes from the I Love Acid parties in recent years.

I Love Acid started off at Corsica Studios in 2007 as a one off party themed around resident Luke Vibert’s tune of the same name. It was a successful night, but lost money after someone dropped a drink in the mixer. They return to the same venue for their 18th Birthday this Saturday 1st March 2025. With a stacked line up of some of the finest DJs in the scene and a secret guest, so it’s not one to miss. I’ll be there, so hit reply if you’re coming or find me on the dancefloor.

Hard Ton - Useless Man (True Pleasures Remix)

Three of my favourite producers feature on my first pick. This was a stand out track for me at the first I Love Acid event that I attended. It was my first time back in a club in 2021 after lockdown was lifted and I was promoting a gig the following weekend. I was worried about catching covid and missing my gig, so ended up dancing socially distanced right at the back and remaining sober all night from open until close at 6am. Still rated as one of my best and most memorable nights out in over two decades of clubbing.

Check out the CTRL Z Radio archives for this set from Posthuman and Johnny Aux, recorded and broadcast back in August 2021. The rest of the night was also recorded, but couldn’t be broadcast, due to some unreleased “only for the club“ tunes from an icon of the scene. I’m not sure I can give names, so you’ll have to guess. 😉

Tsuin - She Don’t Want You

A staple of I Love Acid nights and for good reason, with a strong 303 line and spoken vocal, this one is a banger to say the least. Released as part of 2020’s Metro Jaxx Vol. 3 VA on Posthuman’s Balkan Vinyl label, it’s one you can be pretty confident to hear at an I Love Acid night.

Luke Vibert - Worward

I Love Acid resident Placid runs the always on form We’re Going Deep label and this one from fellow resident Luke Vibert is my top pick there. Placid always digs deep with his sets, but this one is a standout for me.
